Newsletter - January 8, 2018

It was great to kick off 2018 by seeing our friends share a meal and complete our blanket making service. Thank you to our members for taking some of the material home so we can provide more individuals in need with this small token. The energy at Twohey's was great as the community is showing their love to this city's landmark.

Regina Dickerson will be visiting our club this week. She is the President and CEO of Hearts Connected 4 Humanity.  With a professional background in Civil Service for over 28 years, Regina has worked in various areas from leading the department’s Emancipated Foster Youth Program to Homeless Initiatives. She will share her story and her passion. 

We will be going dark during the week of January 22nd as there will be THREE service opportunities:

January 23rd - Homeless Count

January 26th - KaBoom! & LA Dodgers Playground

The Los Angeles Dodgers have selected the City of Alhambra to receive a new playground which will be built through the KaBOOM!

I've already signed up to help on Friday 1/26th. When you click on the link you will find the following information:

Build Day: Friday, January 26, 2018
200 volunteers from the Los Angeles Dodgers, the City of Alhambra, and the local community are needed.

  • 6:30 AM - Team Leaders arrive
  • 8:00 AM - Volunteers arrive and register 
  • 8:30 AM - Kick-off ceremony
  • 2:30 PM - Ribbon-cutting ceremony

If you can't volunteer, but would love to donate money to help cover the expenses for meals and water for the volunteers, or drop of water or snacks for the volunteers PLEASE see the attached information (Donation Letter).  

January 27th - Compton Initiative

Join us on January 27th, from 7am to 12pm. We have been confirmed to provide at least 10 volunteers to attend the Compton Beautification Volunteer Day. Please contact Service Chair Olivia Estrada if you want to participate OR sign up in BAND.
